Weena Joshi, MD

Chief Faculty Advisor & Clinical Director

Weena Joshi is a pediatrician at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego and Faculty at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Weena has been with the International Health Collective since its inception and her experience and guidance has allowed IHC to become what it is today.

Jia Shen, MD, MPH

Faculty Advisor & Clinical Director

Jia Shen is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in the treatment and prevention of heart disease. As an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Shen’s research interests include cardiac rehabilitation, global burden of cardiovascular disease and risk factors, distribution of cardiovascular health services in low-resource settings, and biomarkers in cardiovascular disease.

Neal Jha

President & CEO

Neal is a recent UCSD biochemistry graduate who joined IHC in 2021, inspired by its mission to deliver culturally grounded care to underserved communities. He has led key cross-border initiatives and expansions within IHC, particularly in laboratory testing and harm reduction, and has served in Board roles including Secretary, Director of Local Action, and Vice President/CFO. In these roles, he has focused on strengthening systems to support IHC’s long-term growth and sustainability. Outside of IHC, Neal works as an emergency department technician. He believes everyone has a unique place within IHC and is passionate about mentorship. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, playing piano, and exploring the outdoors.

Hailey Min

Vice President & CFO

Hailey graduated with degrees in both Biochemistry and Global Health. She aspires to pursue medicine and hopes to continue getting involved in global health projects to promote health equity in local communities and the global world. Hailey joined IHC because she wanted to be part of this team who are passionate about helping others and creating a positive and lasting impact on people in the local and global community. She previously served as IHC’s clinic director and Spanish Interpreter project manager, and organized the clinic trips and vitals, scribe, and Spanish interpreter training sessions. Hailey is honored to serve as a Vice President/CFO, and she hopes to contribute to IHC by creating an interactive and comfortable environment where all IHC community members feel at home. Besides medicine, Hailey enjoys learning about different cultures and languages and exploring the outdoors.

Ian Fosth, MPH

Co-Director of Analysis and Research

Ian is a public health professional who’s passionate about improving the ways that IHC collects, organizes, and utilizes it’s data to alleviate disparities. He graduated from UCSD in 2024 with bachelor’s degrees in Neurobiology and Global Health, and graduated from UCLA in 2026 with an MPH in Epidemiology, specializing in Maternal/Child Health. As the Director of Analysis and Research, Ian plans to continue developing collaborative systems that allow IHC’s student leaders to maximize their impact in sustainable ways. Outside of IHC, Ian is actively applying to Medical Scientist Training Programs in order make a career out of integrating public health with medicine, and vice versa. He’s also a self-described nerd, foodie, Magic the Gathering player, and extrovert who loves working in teams. Please reach out!!

Leanne Liaw

Co-Director of Analysis and Research

Leanne is a current Biological Science master’s student at UC San Diego, where she focuses on the impacts of fentanyl dependence on non-social reward motivation. She joined IHC in 2024 to further explore the intersection of substance use disorders and effective public health interventions. Leanne aims to develop sustainable health resource programs to promote education on substance use harm reduction and proper use of overdose reversal resources like naloxone. Ultimately, she hopes to pursue a career and human health and academic research and encourage growth of local collective action that combats the effects of the ongoing global opioid epidemic.Leanne is a current Biological Science master’s student at UC San Diego, where she focuses on the impacts of fentanyl dependence on non-social reward motivation. Eric Nguyen

Co-Director of Clinic Volunteer Training

Eric is a recent UCSD graduate with degrees in neurobiology and music who joined IHC in 2019. He has been involved in several projects and initiatives, but has spent most of his time volunteering with IHC’s clinics as part of clinic leadership and managing the Scribe Program. He currently serves as one of the Co-Director of Clinic Volunteer Training. He is passionate about community service and giving back to IHC, the organization that has shaped his growth, by mentoring and supporting new members while sharing his skills and experiences. One of his favorite IHC experiences was getting to make unforgettable memories with IHC friends at San Juanico during summer 2023. In his free time, Eric is working on his backlog of games, books, and anime, checking out new eats, and practicing piano.

Jaewon Kim

Co-Director of Clinic Volunteer Training

Driven by a commitment to accessible care, Jaewon leverages his B.S. in Biochemistry from UC San Diego to bridge clinical informatics and volunteer education. After a year of optimizing clinic readiness as the EHR Project Manager, he now serves as the Director of Clinic Volunteer Training, where he develops specialized curricula to prepare incoming volunteers for high-impact medical service. Alongside his clinical leadership, he is investigating AI applications in MRI imaging and viral transmission to aid in the early detection of chronic diseases. In his free time, he enjoys playing musical instruments, exploring new restaurants, and practicing archery.

Administrative Director

Robert is a fourth year at UCSD pursuing a B.S. in Neurobiology! He aspires to pursue a career in medicine and is interested in surgery, OB/GYN, and Pediatrics. In addition to his passion for medicine, Robert also is an enthusiast for fitness, fashion, and personal growth. Robert joined IHC because he deeply resonated with its mission to work not for material gain, but rather to impact those around us in a positive way. He loves how the organization and the people within it are guided by their own personal humanitarian convictions. He is honored to continue serving as IHC’s Administrative Director and will do all he can to support IHC’s mission through effective internal member management, CSI compliance, and leading GBMs.

Shreya Dhanala

Shreya is a recent Human Biology graduate from UCSD who is hoping to pursue a career in medicine. Since her freshman year in college, she has been involved with IHC through the Medication Education project and has previously served as Secretary and Medication Education Project PM. She was driven to join IHC due to her interest in their mission of creating sustainable change on both sides of the border and addressing health disparities. In her free time, she loves to read, bake, and craft. She is excited to continue as a Director of Local Action again this year.

Brieann Hager

Brieann is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC San Diego double majoring in Neurobiology and Cognitive Science with a Specialization in Neuroscience, with aspirations to pursue a career in medicine and research. Since joining IHC during the fall quarter of her third year, she has appreciated the organization’s welcoming environment and commitment to addressing healthcare and educational disparities in both Mexico and San Diego communities. As a member, she has contributed to improving clinic efficiency through involvement in the Tijuana Clinic Quality Improvement and Pharmacy Quality Improvement projects. This year, Brieann is excited to serve as Recruitment Chair and looks forward to sharing her passion for healthcare equity and introducing prospective members from diverse backgrounds to the IHC community and its mission. Outside of IHC, she is an undergraduate neuroscience researcher at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and volunteers at UCSD Health. In her free time, Brieann enjoys choreographing dances, singing, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and being spontaneous!

Dhwani Kharidia

Director of Community Health

Dhwani is a fourth-year Human Biology major at UCSD who joined IHC in Fall 2024. She is planning to pursue a career in medicine and is especially interested in internal medicine and pediatrics. Through her involvement in the Tjuana Clinic Quality Improvement Project’s CPR/BLS workgroup and the Pharmacy Quality Improvement Project, she developed a strong appreciation for community-centered care. Last year, Dhwani served as Recruitment Chair, where she enjoyed welcoming prospective members into the organization and helping them find a place within the IHC community. This year, she is excited to deepen her involvement in IHC by supporting clinic initiatives and strengthening project development across the organization. Outside of IHC, Dhwani enjoys baking, hiking, and playing badminton in her free time.

Adriana De Paz

Co-Director of TJP Clinic

Adriana is a recent graduate from UC San Diego, where she earned her B.S. in Human Biology and aspires to become a physician. She joined IHC in Fall 2023 and began serving as Co-Project Manager for the Community Engagement Project where she led English classes at the monthly Tijuana Progreso clinics. Here is when she witnessed how language could impact someone advocating for their health. Since then, she has made it a goal to bridge the communication gap between Spanish-speaking patients and the healthcare providers at the TJP clinics. Adriana now serves as Co-Director of the TJP Clinic, where she is dedicated to fostering a culturally welcoming environment. She hopes to use the strong relationships she’s built with the TJP community to understand their needs and ensure they are reflected in the care and resources delivered. Outside of IHC, Adriana works as an medical assistant for a dermatology practice. In her free time, she enjoys watching sunsets at the beach while listening to music.

Raul Gonzalez

Co-Director of TJP Clinic

Raul is a recent UCSD Nanoengineering graduate with aspirations of becoming a physician. He joined IHC in the Fall of 2023, looking to become more involved in outpatient care, particularly among impoverished and underserved communities. Following his two years of EMT experience, he joined the Clinic Quality Improvement project to develop a CPR/BLS curriculum that could be taught at both Tijuana Progreso and Mexicali clinics. At these clinics, he gathered that simple life-saving techniques could help mitigate the consequences of long emergency responses of first responders in the area. During his time in CQI, Raul also became well acquainted with each aspect of the clinics, incorporating what he knew about emergency medicine to build up triager skills. Raul now serves as Co-Director of the TJP Clinic, where he is interested in delivering more transparent guidance on patient treatment options. During his time, he hopes to develop how the community sees their role in medical intervention in and out of the clinic space. Outside of IHC, he enjoys rock climbing, and traveling.

Esther Na

Co-Director of Baja Clinic

Esther is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC San Diego majoring in Neurobiology with minors in Global Health and Spanish Literature. Her work is driven by a commitment to expand community health as a means of empowering underserved communities and improving holistic health outcomes. Since joining IHC during her first year, she has been involved in a variety of initiatives, including designing educational CPR workshops, coordinating eyeglasses distributions, and organizing the Mexicali Clinic’s first needs assessment. In her previous roles as Co-Director of Community Health and Tijuana Clinic Quality Improvement Project Manager, she has supported original community health initiatives and led the development of the Tijuana Clinic’s referral system. Outside of IHC, Esther works as a Research Assistant and Orientation Leader. She loves coffee, grassy matcha, running outdoors, and curling up with a good book when time permits.

Raymond is a fourth-year Neurobiology major and Music minor at UCSD with a passion for medicine and a deep commitment to underserved communities. He joined IHC in 2024, and has been part of multiple project initiatives, including Pharmacy Quality Improvement, Vision Care, and Community Health Data Analysis. As the Director of Pharmacy, Raymond oversees pharmacy operations across IHC’s three clinic sites, manages pharmacy inventory, and leads the Pharmacy Quality Improvement Project team. In this role, he is developing a data-driven inventory management system to deliver accurate, consistent, and safe pharmaceutical care for every patient. Outside IHC, Raymond works as an ophthalmic technician at the Shiley Eye Institute. In his free time, Raymond loves is a violinist in the Anatole Quartet, a student-led string quartet group at UCSD

Caitlin Chae

Caitlin is a rising sophomore at UC San Diego, double majoring in Neurobiology and Global Health. She joined IHC in the fall quarter of her freshman year and became a member of the Vision Care project. Since then, she has been focused on making essential healthcare items more accessible to everyone and working to bridge disparities in healthcare knowledge. Caitlin is motivated by IHC’s mission to serve healthcare in a holistic way and hopes to further expand her experience in the clinical field. She is focused on strengthening communications across the organization to sustain its efficiency and long-term growth. Outside of IHC, Caitlin works as a figure skating coach at UTC and enjoys trying new restaurants, going to the beach, and studying at cafes with friends!

Tiona Truong

Tiona is a second year at UCSD majoring in Molecular & Cell Biology on the pre-med track. She joined IHC in Fall 2025 as part of the Electronic Health Records Project as a chart reviewer, conducting quality checks, supporting data analysis, and collaborate with her team to produce IHC’s annual report. With her interest in health data and analytics, Tiona is deeply passionate about uncovering disparities and informing equitable healthcare. She views data as a bridge between information and impact, serving as a way to ensure every patient’s experience shapes the care they receive. Outside of IHC, Tiona is an undergraduate research assistant at the Salk Institute, works as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and is a board member of APAMSA (Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association). In her free time, she enjoys photography, exploring new food spots, and spending time with family & friends.

Stephanie is a sophomore at UC San Diego studying Public Health with a concentration in Healthcare Policy/ Management Sciences and International Business. Since joining IHC in her first year, she has been working as a Data Analyst on the Electronic Health Records project, identifying trends in clinic data and presenting findings in the annual report. Stephanie believes that data should be accessible and understandable to everyone, when people can interpret and engage with health information, it empowers communities to advocate for better care. She is passionate about using data to shed light on the needs of underserved communities and drive changes in healthcare. Outside of IHC, she enjoys photography, trying new restaurants/cafes, and running!

Nicole is an incoming transfer student at UCSD as a Human Biology major. She joined IHC in 2025 as part of the Baja Clinics Quality Improvement, motivated to serve underrepresented populations focusing on improving access to care for spanish speaking communities. She quickly became interested in getting involved in other causes within IHC, including helping with the development of the Lab project aiming to strengthen the impact of IHC’s mission and monthly clinics to the communities we serve. Beyond IHC, Nicole works with children facing homelessness by assisting them on how to read and write and becoming proficient in English. In her free time, she loves to travel, to experiment new recipes in the kitchen and spend time with her family and friends.

Aruna is a third year undergraduate at UCSD majoring in Public Health, and has been involved in IHC since fall of her freshman year. This year, she is excited to serve as one of the co-PMs for the TCQI project and as a Triage Lead. She is passionate about promoting equitable access to medicine and learning about healthcare disparities, and hopes to work towards addressing these topics through her work in IHC. Her involvement in these roles strongly stems from her passion for community service and making genuine impact. Spanish Interpreter Co-PM

Isabella is a second-year student at UC San Diego majoring in Neurobiology. Growing up in a Colombian household, she was raised speaking Spanish and often interpreted informally for her family, which helped her recognize the importance of language accessibility in healthcare from an early age. She joined IHC during the fall of her freshman year, inspired by unfolding global events and motivated to use her background and language skills to help bridge gaps in access to care and empower underserved communities. Since joining, she has served as a Spanish Interpreter, helping facilitate communication between providers and patients, while also contributing to the Sex Education Project. As Spanish Interpreter Co-PM, Isabella hopes to ensure interpreters feel valued, supported, and well-prepared to serve clinic communities, while also helping all IHC members feel more confident and connected when interacting with Hispanic culture and language, regardless of their level of Spanish proficiency. She is grateful to be part of IHC and to continue learning more about sustainable humanitarian medicine, a field she hopes to pursue in the future.

Evelyn is a second year majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in German Studies. She joined IHC in 2026, and has been a part of STEM Education since then. As a co-project manager for STEM Ed, she strives to form broader connections with San Diego schools and public resources, to increase cross-collaboration within IHC, and to implement a new garden project for students to learn from. She is building herself up to pursue a career medicine that focuses on providing care for marginalized communities, specializing in either cardiology, pediatrics, or neurology. Outside of IHC, Evelyn is a News Host for KSDT Radio and a math and science tutor for kids and teens. She loves listening to David Bowie, playing bass, watching the Golden Girls, and going to the gym. She hopes to advance STEM Education into its next chapter, fostering a deeper network with the community IHC serves!

Berlyn is a Molecular and Cell Biology undergraduate student at UC San Diego pursuing the pre-PA pathway with a deep commitment to healthcare accessibility and community advocacy. She joined IHC in Fall 2025 and now serves as Project Manager for the Pharmacy Quality Improvement project, where she is focused on standardizing pharmacy documentation, improving the medication supply chain, and strengthening the connection between pharmacy operations and patient education across IHC’s clinic sites. Outside of IHC, Berlyn is Co-President of Neuroscience4Youth, a nonprofit dedicated to making healthcare education accessible to students around the world. She is passionate about bridging the gap between students and healthcare professionals.

Sophia is a recent UCSD Human Biology graduate who joined IHC in 2025 in the Sex Education project team and has continued to do work expanding comprehensive sexual and reproductive health and education for IHC patients. She hopes to expand the Sex Education project’s outreach goals to decrease stigma and promote healthy behavior by incorporating harm reduction practices for HIV prevention in San Diego and expand reproductive and sexual health product availability to reduce barriers to access for IHC patients. She hopes to become an OB/GYN someday and continue to advocate and expand women’s and reproductive healthcare. Outside of IHC, Sophia continues to do sexual health outreach with UCSD Health Promotion Services while preparing for medical school during her gap year. During her free time, Sophia loves trying out new cooking and baking recipes, latin ballroom dancing, and reading.

Vaishali Jain

Vaishali is a 2nd-year neurobiology major who joined IHC in her first year at UCSD. She was drawn to its mission to help and serve people in real time with lasting impact. She has consistently contributed to IHC, especially to the Medication Education project, and looks forward to helping ensure its continued success. Vaishali is interested in bringing new ideas to the table and working to increase the influence of this organization. For fun, she likes to bake, hike, socialize, and go to the gym. She looks forward to making more connections within IHC, whether they are new or continuing members!

Harini Karthikeyan

Medication Education Co-PM​

Harini is a third-year student at UCSD studying General Biology in Thurgood Marshall College. She joined IHC in Fall 2024 because of her passion for addressing gaps in health education, and has since become an active member of the Medication Education project. She has also attended several TJP clinics as a scribe and as part of the pharmacy and triage teams. Last year, she served as one of the fundraising leads and is currently the Co-Project Manager for Medication Education. Outside of IHC, she works as a Marshall College Resident Assistant and as a research assistant in a neurobiology lab. Adriana De Paz

Community Engagement Co-PM

Adriana is a recent graduate from UC San Diego, where she earned her B.S. in Human Biology and aspires to become a physician. She joined IHC in Fall 2023 and began serving as Co-Project Manager for the Community Engagement Project where she led English classes at the monthly Tijuana Progreso clinics. Here is when she witnessed how language could impact someone advocating for their health. Since then, she has made it a goal to bridge the communication gap between Spanish-speaking patients and the healthcare providers at the TJP clinics. Adriana now serves as Co-Director of the TJP Clinic, where she is dedicated to fostering a culturally welcoming environment. She hopes to use the strong relationships she’s built with the TJP community to understand their needs and ensure they are reflected in the care and resources delivered. Outside of IHC, Adriana works as an medical assistant for a dermatology practice. In her free time, she enjoys watching sunsets at the beach while listening to music.

Emily Garcia

Community Engagement Co-PM

Emily is a first-generation college student at UCSD majoring in Public Health with a concentration in Medicine Sciences. Emily joined IHC in the Fall of 2024. She is passionate about addressing health disparities and increasing educational opportunities for underserved communities. Currently, she serves as a project manager for Community Engagement. In her role, she has supported the December Toy Drive initiative, the year-round clothing drive, and various other monthly activities for the communities IHC serves. Outside of IHC, Emily is actively involved in community outreach through SPACES, where she develops and leads workshops for local high school students. She also conducts research in the Gleeson Laboratory, contributing to projects focused on pediatric genetic disorders. In her free time, Emily enjoys finding new coffee shops across SD and enjoying a beach day.

Tamanna Gandhi

Motherhood Co-PM

Tamanna is a third-year undergraduate at UCSD in Marshall College, majoring in Human Biology with a minor in Global Health. She joined IHC during her freshman year and has since been actively involved in the Motherhood Project. This year, she is excited to serve as a Co-Project Manager for the project and continue supporting education and access to resources for women and children.

Beyond IHC, Tamanna works as a chemistry tutor and contributes to cardiovascular health research. She aspires to pursue a career in medicine centered on compassionate, culturally informed, and preventative care. In her free time, she enjoys staying active, rewatching her favorite shows, and taking naps!

Sneha Doddapaneni

Sneha is a second-year Human Biology major who joined IHC during her freshman year and is passionate about healthcare accessibility and maternal health. Inspired by IHC’s mission to create sustainable and compassionate healthcare initiatives, she’s excited to serve as the Project Manager for the Motherhood Project. Through IHC, Sneha looks forward to helping create meaningful initiatives that support mothers and families while continuing to grow as a leader and healthcare advocate. In her free time, you can catch Sneha reading, going to the beach, and exploring new spots with her friends.

Anderson Lai

Vision Care Co-PM

Anderson is a second-year Global Health Major at UC San Diego with an aspiration to pursue a career in medicine, specifically ophthalmology. Since having personal experiences with different eye conditions and diseases, he has a passion for providing and expanding vision care initiatives to help alleviate health disparities within underserved communities. Anderson deeply resonates with IHC’s mission to actively listen to community needs and provide genuine care for the well-being of our community members – he admires how everyone’s intentional actions and authenticity can go a long way in creating lasting positive impacts. Outside of IHC, Anderson is a 3rd degree Blackbelt and competes for the UCSD Taekwondo club. He enjoys listening to 2010s Pop and Kpop, training in calisthenics, playing the piano, gaming, and spending quality time with his friends and family.

Katie Lee

Vision Care Co-PM

Katie is a third-year undergraduate at UC San Diego majoring in General Biology. She joined IHC during fall quarter of her freshman year as part of the Clinic Quality Improvement Vision Workgroup, where she developed a strong passion for addressing healthcare disparities and improving access to vision care. As the vision initiative grew into its own project, Katie became involved in distributing reading glasses, creating eye health pamphlets, and supporting community education efforts focused on preventative eye care and patient awareness. She especially values opportunities to connect with underserved communities and hopes to continue combining service, education, and patient-centered care throughout her healthcare journey. Outside of IHC, Katie is a tutor for underserved K–12 students and volunteers in additional community service initiatives, including dental clinics and fostering animals. In her free time, she enjoys trying new matcha cafés, hiking, and spending time with her dog.
