Weena Joshi is a pediatrician at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego and Faculty at the UC San Diego School of Medicine. Weena has been with the International Health Collective since its inception and her experience and guidance has allowed IHC to become what it is today.
Faculty Advisor & Clinical Director
Jia Shen is a board-certified cardiologist who specializes in the treatment and prevention of heart disease. As an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Shen’s research interests include cardiac rehabilitation, global burden of cardiovascular disease and risk factors, distribution of cardiovascular health services in low-resource settings, and biomarkers in cardiovascular disease.
President & CEO
Han is a UC San Diego alumnus who graduated in 2024 with degrees in Human Biology and Education Science. Since joining the organization in 2020, she has supported projects as Director of Local Action for two years and internally as Vice President & CFO. As this year’s President, Han is committed to increasing IHC’s impact by sustaining project outreach, clinic initiatives, and expanding local partnerships. Outside IHC, Han works as a bilingual Medical Assistant for Vietnamese and English-speaking patients and volunteers with CHOC. She aspires to become a healthcare provider who bridges gaps in primary-care access and health education using community-centered practices, as she is very passionate about making healthcare accessible and attainable.
Vice President & CFO
Neal is a recent UCSD biochemistry graduate with aspirations of becoming a physician. He joined IHC in 2021, inspired by its mission to provide culturally aware care to underserved communities. Over the past four years, he has led multiple cross-border initiatives, including Electronic Health Records and Harm Reduction, and most recently served as Director of Local Action. Outside of IHC, Neal works as an emergency department technician. He believes everyone has a unique place within IHC and is always happy to offer individual guidance. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, playing jazz, and exploring the outdoors.

Ramya is a recent UCSD Human Biology graduate with the aspiration of becoming a physician. She joined IHC in Winter 2021, drawn by its mission of alleviating healthcare disparities and culturally sensitive resources to underserved communities. Throughout the past 4 years, she has led multiple initiatives within IHC, including the Sex Education and STEM Education projects. Outside of IHC, Ramya works as a medical scribe. She loves sharing advice about her undergraduate experience at UCSD and the pre-med journey, so feel free to reach out. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, traveling, and cooking.
Director of Local Action
Shreya is a fourth-year student at UCSD majoring in human biology and hoping to pursue a career in medicine. She has been involved with IHC since her freshman year, with the Medication Education and San Juanico/Mexicali Projects. She was driven to join IHC due to her interest in their mission of creating sustainable change on both sides of the border and addressing health disparities. In her free time, she loves to read, bake, and spend time with family and friends. She has previously served as IHC’s Secretary and is excited to take on a new role as one of the Directors of Local Action this year.
Administrative Director
Robert is a third year at UCSD pursuing a B.S. in Neurobiology! He aspires to pursue a career in medicine and is interested in surgery, OB/GYN, and Pediatrics. In addition to his passion for medicine, Robert also is an enthusiast for fitness, fashion, and the application of therapeutic practices for self-healing and growth. Robert joined IHC because he deeply resonated with its mission to work not for material gain, but rather to impact those around us in a positive way. He loves how the organization and the people within it are guided by their own personal humanitarian convictions. Most recently, he served as the inaugural Recruitment Chair. He is honored to be serving as the next Administrative Director and will do all he can to support IHC’s mission through effective internal member management and leading GBMs.

Ian is a 2nd year MPH student at UCLA specializing in Epidemiology and Maternal/Child Health. He graduated from UCSD in 2024 with degrees in Neurobiology and Global Health. As a Co-Director of our Community Health Programs, Ian is passionate about facilitating initiative development and implementation in a way that maximizes our available resources, promotes cross-team collaboration, and grounds itself in the needs and lived experiences of the communities we serve. In the past three years as an IHC leader, Ian has previously served in both his current role and as Project Manager of the TJP Clinic Quality Improvement project. In his free time he enjoys archery, Magic the Gathering, and is a long time Star Wars fan!

Esther is a third-year undergraduate at UC San Diego majoring in Neurobiology with a double minor in Global Health and Spanish Literature. Since joining IHC in fall quarter of her first year, she’s been especially interested in focusing on community health as a means to empower patients and improve holistic health outcomes. As a member, she was actively involved in designing educational CPR workshops, distributing reading glasses, and organizing the Mexicali clinic’s first needs assessment, and has since been enjoying supporting others in implementing their own initiatives as one of the Directors of Community Health and the Clinic Quality Improvement Project Manager. Outside of IHC, Esther works as a Research Assistant, Orientation Leader, and CPR Instructor. She loves black coffee, running or hiking outdoors, and curling up with a good book when time permits.

Adriana is a recent graduate from UC San Diego, where she earned her B.S. in Human Biology and aspires to become an emergency medicine physician. She joined IHC in Fall 2023 and began serving as Co-Project Manager for the Community Engagement Project. As a Co-Project Manager, she led English classes at the monthly Tijuana Progreso clinics. Here is when she witnessed how language could impact someone advocating for their health. Since then, she has made it a goal to bridge the communication gap between Spanish-speaking patients and the healthcare providers at the TJP clinics. Adriana now serves as Co-Director of the TJP Clinic, where she is dedicated to fostering a culturally welcoming environment. She hopes to use the strong relationships she’s built with the TJP community to understand their needs and ensure they are reflected in the care and resources delivered. Outside of IHC, Adriana works as an EMT and in her free time, she enjoys watching sunsets at the beach while listening to music..
Co-Director of TJP Clinic
Raul is a recent UCSD Nanoengineering graduate with aspirations of becoming a physician. He joined IHC in the Fall of 2023, looking to become more involved in outpatient care, particularly among impoverished and underserved communities. Following his two years of EMT experience, he joined the Clinic Quality Improvement project to develop a CPR/BLS curriculum that could be taught at both Tijuana Progreso and Mexicali clinics. At these clinics, he gathered that simple life-saving techniques could help mitigate the consequences of long emergency responses of first responders in the area. During his time in CQI, Raul also became well acquainted with each aspect of the clinics, incorporating what he knew about emergency medicine to build up triager skills. Raul now serves as Co-Director of the TJP Clinic, where he is interested in delivering more transparent guidance on patient treatment options. During his time, he hopes to develop how the community sees their role in medical intervention in and out of the clinic space. Outside of IHC, Raul is currently obtaining his Master’s Degree in Nanoengineering and working as a Graduate Student Researcher. In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and traveling.

Rocio is a recent UCSD Human Biology graduate and an aspiring physician. She was raised in Mexicali, Mexico, which inspired her passion for providing accessible and culturally competent healthcare services in the communities we serve. Rocio joined IHC in 2023 and has since been part of the Baja Clinic Quality Improvement Project, aiding with the establishment of our newest clinic site in Mexicali. Outside of IHC, she works as a Medical Assistant and enjoys sunny beach days, movies, and going on runs.

Hailey graduated with degrees in both Biochemistry and Global Health. She aspires to pursue emergency medicine and hopes to continue getting involved in global health projects to promote health equity in local communities and the global world. Hailey joined IHC because she wanted to be part of this team who are passionate about helping others and creating a positive and lasting impact on people in the local and global community. She previously served as IHC’s Director of Tijuana Progreso Clinic and organized the monthly clinic visits and quarterly vitals and scribe training sessions. Hailey is honored to serve as a Director of Baja Clinics and Spanish Interpreter Project Manager, and she hopes to contribute to IHC and its clinics by creating an interactive and comfortable environment where patients and volunteers feel at home. Besides medicine, Hailey enjoys learning about different cultures and languages and exploring the outdoors.

Eric is a graduate with degrees in Neurobiology/Music and Psychology minor from UCSD. In his free time, Eric loves to try out new restaurants, explore video games, and learn new instruments. As pharmacy director, Eric oversees the pharmacy in IHC’s monthly clinics in Tijuana, organizes pharmacy inventory, leads the Pharmacy Quality Improvement Project, and assists with other IHC projects, including the Scribe Program. He has been part of several IHC projects since his second year at UCSD. One of his favorite IHC memories was going on the San Juanico trip in 2023 with other IHC members. He strives to continue to serve and support the San Diego-Tijuana community alongside other members.

Prisha is third-year at UCSD and studying Neurobiology. She joined IHC in 2025 and has enjoyed being a part of the Community Garden Project and Community Data Analysis Team. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, dancing, and going to the beach! Aruna is a second year undergraduate at UCSD majoring in Public Health, and has been involved in IHC since fall of her freshman year. She is part of the Clinic Quality Improvement Project and is excited to serve as one of the Directors of Social Media and Marketing this year. She is passionate about promoting equitable access to medicine and learning about healthcare disparities, and hopes to work towards addressing these topics through her work in IHC. Harshitha is a third year UCSD undergraduate and medical aspirant, majoring in Molecular and Cell Biology. She joined IHC in her freshman year as a member of the San Juanico/Mexicali Clinic Project, where she was a Team Lead for the Mexicali Menstrual Drive and a Mexicali Needs Assessment contributor. Harshitha is now working on dental hygiene initiatives for the Clinic Quality Improvement Project and is a Triage Lead for the Tijuana clinic. Harshitha admires IHC’s mission of promoting medical well-being through initiatives that prioritize sustainability and cultural awareness. In her free time, Harshitha enjoys singing, exploring global music, and reading the New York Times (and getting distracted by the Wordles).

Harini is a current second year UCSD student studying General Biology in Thurgood Marshall College. She joined IHC in the Fall of 2024 because she was passionate about addressing the gap in health education, and has since been an active member in the Medication Education project committee and has attended several TJP clinics, as part of both the pharmacy and triage team. Currently, she is serving as one of the fundraising leads. Outside of IHC, she is a Marshall College Orientation Leader and a research assistant in a neurobiology lab. In her free time, Harini enjoys dancing, playing with her dog, and watching Arizona Cardinals football!

Lisa is a third-year Human Biology major and Global Health minor at UCSD. She has been a part of IHC and the Sister League project since her second year. She is passionate about the project’s mission to enhance the health literacy of recently homeless women in San Diego and values the opportunity to learn from and engage with her local community. Through Sister League, Lisa enjoys applying her interests in global health, biology, and science communication in a hands-on and meaningful way. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and being outdoors.

Janica is a third year majoring in Neurobiology with a minor in Health Care Social Issues. She joined IHC in 2024, and has been a part of STEM Education since then. As a co-project manager for STEM Ed, she hopes to expand this project to new horizons in the upcoming year and make lasting impacts in more communities. Outside of IHC, Janica is an avid R&B music listener and enjoys going to the beach, baking, and playing volleyball! Shae is currently involved in virology and immunology research with the UCSD School of Medicine. After joining IHC in 2023, Shae was immediately drawn to the harm reduction project, and has since served as Project Manager and Director of Client Engagement and Events. Shae is now working on ensuring harm reduction resources are available and accessible and that community members are engaged with the services our project provides. Saurabi is a third-year biochemistry student at UCSD. She will serve as the Project Manager for the Suicide Prevention Project, with the goal of making a meaningful impact in the field of mental health. Saurabi joined IHC in Fall 2023, where she was a part of the Pharmacy QI project and the Vision Care team. Inspired by IHC’s mission to address global health disparities, she felt motivated to take on a more active role in its community-driven health initiatives. She joined IHC in 2024 to deepen her understanding of community health and expand access to care for underserved populations. She currently serves as a triage lead and contributes to the Community Engagement Project, helping organize clothing and toy drives for local families. Outside of IHC, Dhara works as an EMT and coaches sports for children with autism. She is inspired by IHC’s mission and the passionate individuals she works alongside. In her free time, Dhara enjoys baking, hiking new trails, and discovering new matcha spots.

Kavya is a fourth year student at UCSD studying biology with a specialization in bioinformatics. She has worked with the Sex Ed Project for the past 3 years and has been a co-PM of the project for 2 years. As co-PM, Kavya has worked to navigate the taboo around Sexual Health to provide quality care and education to our patients and to local populations. In her free time, Kavya enjoys hiking, swimming and playing games like Stardew Valley.

Allyson is a third-year Global Health major and ASL/Linguistics minor. She first joined IHC as a member of the CQI and Suicide Prevent projects as well as the CDAT team in fall 2024. She now has the opportunity to co-found and co-lead the Emergency Response Education project and aims to help students and community members feel more comfortable and confident in their ability to respond to medical emergencies in their communities and work spaces. Allyson works as a lifeguard and college application counselor outside of IHC. In her free time, she enjoys long-distance running, swimming, and listening to 80s rock! She is very excited to serve IHC members, UCSD students, and community members in the upcoming year through both new and existing projects!

Since joining IHC in her 2nd year, she has been coordinating Vision Care initiatives, volunteering at Tijuana Progreso Clinic, and assisting the Clinic Quality Improvement Project, Pharmacy Quality Improvement Project, and Community Data Analysis Team. She strives to expand vision care services in IHC as part of our mission to alleviate health disparities in underserved communities. Outside of IHC, Kylee works as a Clinical Trials Research Assistant at the Jacobs Retina Center, Shiley Eye Institute – UCSD Health. In her free time, she loves visiting art museums, playing tennis, and exploring new restaurants and cafes.
