Sexual health education can be considered divisive and taboo to talk about in parts of both the Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California communities. However, teenage pregnancies and incidences of STI diagnoses are on the rise in both of these communities. Preventative measures, both in health education and medicine, have proven to have a positive outcome in lowering percentages of teen pregnancies and HIV cases. This project is meant to teach community members on the importance of sexual and reproductive health in a fun, interactive and culturally-sensitive manner.
This project is focused on educating and engaging the Tijuana, San Juanico, Mexicali, and San Diego communities on sexual health. We primarily do this via in-person or recorded workshops and pamphlets. We also prepare kits to give to the communities.
